Gold Coast Airport Pty Ltd (GCA) is seeking an experienced Leading Hand, Grounds Maintenance Officer to join our Asset Services team. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a hands-on leadership role, coordinating the daily operations of the Grounds Maintenance team while ensuring our airport grounds, infrastructure and facilities are maintained safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
In this role, you will support the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance across a diverse airport environment, including grounds, roadways, carparks, access tracks, fencing, drainage systems, minor plant and equipment, and other precinct infrastructure. You will work closely with the Electrical Grounds and Maintenance Manager to prioritise work, allocate resources, support contractors and ensure operational requirements are met.

How will you make an impact?
Reporting to the Electrical Grounds and Maintenance Manager, you will provide day-to-day guidance to Grounds Maintenance Officers while continuing to perform hands-on maintenance activities. You will coordinate daily and weekly work schedules, monitor the completion and quality of works, and support a safe, compliant and efficient working environment.
The ideal candidate will be a practical and proactive team leader with strong grounds maintenance, horticulture, landscaping or similar operational experience. You will have sound organisational skills, the ability to manage competing priorities, and confidence operating relevant plant and equipment in a commercial environment. You will also bring a positive leadership style, strong communication skills and a commitment to safety, teamwork and continuous improvement.
Key deliverables/responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the safe, effective and compliant maintenance of Gold Coast Airport’s grounds and associated infrastructure. Your key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Maintaining airport grounds, roadways, carparks, access tracks, fencing, gates, drainage systems and precinct infrastructure.
- Coordinating daily and weekly work schedules for the Grounds Maintenance team.
- Monitoring work quality, efficiency and compliance with airport operational and safety requirements.
- Operating ride-on equipment, light mechanical plant and rigid motor vehicles as required.
- Prioritising planned and reactive maintenance tasks in consultation with the Electrical Grounds and Maintenance Manager.
