We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Regional Project Manager to join our Townsville Airport team. Based in Townsville, this role will support Project Owners to deliver commercially successful and fit-for-purpose projects across QAL’s regional ports, including Townsville, Mount Isa and Longreach airports. The role will be responsible for the direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of regional capital works projects, ensuring consistency with QAL’s vision, mission and strategic direction.
The Regional Project Manager will also assist in identifying, prioritising and planning future major capital works projects to ensure infrastructure supports airport growth, operational continuity and master planning requirements across QAL’s regional airport network.

How will you make an impact?
You will bring relevant graduate or postgraduate qualifications in engineering, construction management or project management, supported by experience delivering medium to large projects from inception through to completion.
You will have strong capability across project planning, design coordination, procurement, contract administration, contractor and consultant management, stakeholder engagement, governance reporting, WH&S, environmental management and risk mitigation. These skills will enable you to deliver safe, compliant and high-quality infrastructure outcomes that support airport operations, community needs and future regional growth across QAL’s regional ports.
Key deliverables/responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Lead project planning activities across QAL’s regional ports, including project definition, feasibility, options assessment, programme development, procurement planning, risk assessment, stakeholder alignment and business case inputs.
- Support concept and detailed design phases by developing design briefs, reviewing outputs for compliance, constructability, quality and value-for-money, managing consultants and coordinating approvals, certification and regulatory pathways.
- Manage end-to-end project delivery, including tendering, procurement, contract administration, contractor and consultant management, handover, close-out, lessons learned and delivery against approved scope, programme, budget, quality and risk requirements.
- Prepare clear project reports, approval inputs and governance updates covering scope, programme, budget, quality, risk, safety, stakeholder matters and key decisions required.
- Promote safe, compliant and sustainable project outcomes by ensuring contractor risk, quality, safety and environmental plans are implemented, monitored, reviewed and improved where required.
To be successful, you will ideally bring:
- Experience delivering projects from inception through to handover and close-out, including built form design, documentation and construction supervision.
- The ability to prepare clear and professional reports, business cases, approval papers and presentations with sound commercial reasoning and risk analysis.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence outcomes across internal and external groups.
- Sound knowledge of procurement, contract administration, statutory compliance, WH&S, environmental management and contractor risk mitigation requirements.
- A Queensland Construction White Card, with airport experience and a First Aid Certificate considered desirable.
- The ability to travel to and work across QAL’s regional ports as required.
