What you’ll contribute to:

An exciting opportunity has become available for a motivated and innovative Senior Cyber Security Analyst to join the QAL Technology Department.  As a Senior Cyber Security Analyst, you will be responsible for enhancing QAL’s security measures, conducting security assessments, and ensuring compliance with best practices. You will play a key role in providing SME input into, and auditing system security and frameworks, supply chain, managing incidents, and advising on risk mitigation strategies.

How will you make an impact?

The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in cybersecurity, holding a bachelor’s degree in Cyber Security, Information Technology, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience), alongside at least three years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity roles. They will demonstrate solid technical expertise across Active Directory, network and cloud security (AWS and Azure), and endpoint protection technologies, with proven experience working with SIEM platforms, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and EDR solutions. A sound understanding of recognised security frameworks such as NIST, the Australian Essential Eight, and PCI-DSS is essential, as is demonstrated capability in incident response and risk management.

Key deliverables/responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Cyber Security Operations & Incident Management – monitoring, response, OT security, SOC integration, and threat intelligence. 
  • Security Architecture & Vulnerability Management – secure cloud architecture, CSPM, vulnerability lifecycle management with SLA tracking. 
  • Audit, Compliance & Governance – ASIC, Essential Eight, NIST audits, supply chain due diligence, shadow IT/OT governance. 
  • Training, Awareness & Reporting – staff training, tabletop exercises, Board reporting on cyber risk and compliance. 
  • Continuous Improvement & Stakeholder Engagement – embedding security across projects and operations.
