There has never been a better time to join us.

What you’ll contribute to:

An exciting opportunity has recently become available for a full-time Aviation Regulatory Compliance Officer (ARCO) to join our Mount Isa team.

This is an entry level aviation administration position, with full training available to the successful candidate in a supportive and positive workplace with plenty of opportunity for future progression. Administration experience is preferred, and knowledge of aviation related legislation is not required but would be a bonus.

Vidu joined Mount Isa Airport Pty Ltd (MIAPL) as an Aviation Regulatory Compliance Officer, and has since moved internally into a more senior role at Townsville Airport Pty Ltd. Vidu shares her unique experience working at MIAPL below:

“I initially joined QAL as an intern and I was impressed by the friendly and supportive work culture that was nurtured at the organisation. Shortly after my internship, I was offered the opportunity to join the team at MIAPL and needless to say I was beyond thrilled. As a fresh-out-of-university graduate, I loved how helpful and accommodating my work colleagues were - I can always rely on my leaders and team for guidance. I enjoy working with a team of seasoned aviation professionals who are passionate about what they do, and it doesn’t fail to inspire me.

In my role, not only do I overlook the administration duties at the airport, but I also get the opportunity to work on various tasks and projects that help broaden my knowledge and understanding of the operational aspects of running an aerodrome. QAL also provides various avenues to support my professional development.”

How will you make an impact?

Working within our Aviation team, the successful candidate will implement, provide guidance, and continually improve management of Aviation security, safety and operational regulatory compliance in accordance with federal legislation relating to Mount Isa Airport.

The ARCO is responsible for airside operational activities in relation to the standards as set out in the Manual of Standards section 139 and the Office of Transport Security ATSA 2004 & ATSR 2005. This role is also responsible for ensuring that the Airport is at all times capable of handling any aircraft operation within the limitations set by the regulations.

Key deliverables/responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Airport Manuals, on-line documentation and SOPs kept up to date.
  • Security systems and processes are maintained and upgraded as required.
  • Conduct regular audits of procedures and manuals to ensure compliance requirements are maintained.
  • Document control of Airport related manuals, registers and online file system is maintained correctly and up to date.
  • Ensure all staff training documentation maintained and all records up to date.

What we offer you?

This is an opportunity to be part of a progressive organisation with a great culture and assist in the transformation and growth of the business. Flexible working options are available for all employees. At QAL, we uphold the philosophy that the smooth integration of life and work benefits all. We call it ‘Living Well’.

QAL supports an inclusive approach and values diversity within the workplace. We aim to provide opportunities that allow individuals to reach their full potential regardless of their background, gender, age, work status, religious or cultural identity. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will be required to adhere to QAL’s Drug and Alcohol Management Plan (DAMP), which includes pre-employment Drug and Alcohol Testing and have the ability to obtain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC).
